  • The office is assisting members weekly with reassessing and evaluating carcasses that are being scanned in the abattoir. To decrease the turnaround time of releasing carcass results, please send your animal information to the office before the animals are slaughtered. The office will verify the information on the system and provide feedback on any errors. Send an email with the Animal IDs, RFIDs, and slaughter dates to tanya@wagyu.org.za.
  • Submit your weaning and post-weaning weight records to the office, at tanya@wagyu.org.za. For more information regarding what performance data should be submitted please refer to the Breeders manual https://wagyu.org.za/manuals-breedplan/ or contact the office for assistance.
  • Send your DNA request forms together with your birth notification forms via email to the office (office@wagyu.org.za). DNA samples cannot be sent to the requested laboratory without the required signed forms. Complete your registration form with the RFID of the calf.
  • Courier all DNA samples to 5 Reitz Park, 78 President Reitz str, Westdene, Bloemfontein, 9301. Remember to use the reference ‘WAGYU’ and include the office mobile number +27 61 408 4123.
  • Please ensure that there is a sufficient hair sample in the envelope or hair card and that the follicles are present. See how to take DNA samples here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AqDQh_-HDW0.
  • Members who opt to work directly with the DNA laboratories to do their parent verifications should note that the laboratory does not release those results to the Society. The breeder is responsible for ensuring that the Society receives the results on time and will be levied a late registration fee for results submitted past the eighth-month age of the calf cut-off date.
